Sun-Tues: Eh those aren't really days are they?
Hallo! I've been away from this magnificent blog for three days because, well, not a lot was happening. I'll catch you up:
A few weeks back I was like 'OMG I need new headshots if I am going to actually get back to the actings;' my current headshot is great, but I have, well, much longer, non-pink, non-head shaved headshots. They are pretty. They are from a few years back and I don't feel like I look anything like this anymore. Here you go:
It's real pretty but if I walked into an audition with this headshot looking all badass like I do now, no way I would get the part. I don't know any photographers in Seattle, so I wanted to get them done before I left.
I was LUCKY enough to book a session with Stacey Bode for Tuesday, the 7th (today) so I had to get ready
SUNDAY: I realized that when staging our house for sell I may or may not have packed away anything which could remotely be considered 'headshot' worthy. For theatrical headshots, you want to look like yourself and relaxed (so no like formal dresses), but you want to stick to solid colors. Layering is cool, but you def want to stick to those solids. Most of what is currently in my closet is MC free t-shirts, cat and/or dog dresses, and pug shirts. EEK! This meant I would have to brave a, omg the worst, mall.
If you know me in person you know I'm not a small lady. Nor am I a super large lady. I'm sorta in-between. Too big to shop at boutiques and there are very few large lady stores in the mall which have clothes for large ladies which don't look like, matronly. I found a couple shirts, saw some people with terrible hair, and left. For the rest of Sunday I started feeling awful and had an early night.
MONDAY: I felt like the WORST. Seriously, Georgia is trying to kill me. I stayed in bed most of the day and bid bon voyage to Doug and the kitties for their trial trip. Everyone has been telling me that the cats will NOT travel well, and well my cats aren't exactly easy, so before we made travel plans, our friend Amee suggested a trial run. Doug had never been to Savannah so he decided to make the drive to Savannah with both kitties and stay in an AirBnB to see how they dealt with the drive/stay in strange place, etc. THEY DID GREAT!
TUESDAY: Headshot day!!!!! Only problem, I had 2 shirts, and a full day of working. Additionally, I had to secure the containers to move our stuff and call the company who is doing the remediation on our crawlspace. I went to work, headed to the Target on my lunch break for more solid color shirts, and called all the people after my shift was over.
All that being done, I started getting ready for my headshot session. I'm always nervous getting in front of the camera (I'm more of a behind the camera type of lady) so I didn't eat anything today so I wasn't nauseated with nerves. I get to Stacey's house and met my amazing makeup artist Jacque Carder. The first thing they asked was what sort of work was I looking to get (theatrical, film, commercial) and got to know me a little better. The first thing Jacque asked me was, 'do you want me to cover you freckles' and I of course said no. They aren't my fave thing, but they are on my face and a part of me and I don't want to hide a 'flaw.' The fact that I was asked was awesome--only 1 other makeup artist has ever asked, most just cover with as much makeup as possible. I already knew this was going to be an amazing shoot.
I shoot headshots every now and then, but I am definitely still learning. Yall, Stacey is amazing and the combo of Stacey and Jacque made for the most fun I've EVER had during a headshot session. They work in my neighborhood (super convenient for me) know each other very well and they worked so well together and it was FUN. I learned so much about headshot photography from Stacey just from being shot by her, and ya'll she is so much fun. If you are in the market for headshots in Atlanta, this is your lady. Run don't walk. Get them done.
For once I'm super excited to get the proofs EEK!!!!! I had such an amazing time.
Now my hubby is home with the kitties and I'm typing this in bed, ready to go to sleep. The containers come Saturday and this gets move gets more real every day. 8 more days in the office, 13 days until closing (knock on wood) and soon we'll be on our way. Crazy!
Cheers until tomorrow!
PS Prime Now is now serving restaurant delivery in Atlanta but NOT in my zipcode. Assholes.
